Baseball Dream Theatre X

A visit to Livan Hernandez's mansion then leads (somehow) to a meeting of the world's best scientific minds, who have been tasked with solving the mystery of Hanjin, the baffling next step in human evolution.

Hanjin, a Korean-American youth, is stuck in what appears to be in a state of frozen timespace, eighteen inches above the concourse of AT&T Park, right behind home plate.  Nobody knows what is causing him to levitate off the ground.  Nobody knows why his arms are raised up or why his fists are emitting an unnatural white light.

Can this assembly of geniuses--and their unlikely addition--solve this mystery?  Or will they be overcome by the problems they face as their arrogant personalities collide?

Also, I think I might be reading too many X-Men comic books.

Why am I a Rockies fan? (repost)

Note: the following is a reproduction of my fan post that was featured on Purple Row.
****************************************************************************************************************

Why am I a Rockies fan?  Lately, I have honestly been asking myself that question.

This should be a post about all the good Rockies memories I have.

This should be a post about when I attended the first Rockies game in Denver, when EY hit that leadoff home run.

This should be a post about when I attended the first game at Coors Field, when Bichette hit that walkoff home run.

This should be a post about when I attended the All Star festivities in 1998.

This should be a post about how I was in the Rockies Rookies Fan Club.  Or about how I have previously been a season ticket holder.  Or about how my family has a brick at Coors Field.  Or about the

Congratulations Bizarro Royals

Bizarro Royals is champion of the 2014 Percell Fantasy Baseball League.

For most of the second half of the season, yours truly was in first place, but with about three weeks left to play, Bizarro charged into first and held it fast until he had secured his second ever PFBL title.

To the other PFBL managers, thanks for a fun and well-played fantasy baseball season, and congrats again to the Bizarro Royals!

Absent any scoring corrections, the final 2014 PFBL standings are as follows:

Book Review: Where the Wind Leads

This is an epic family journey which rivals that of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!

This book needs to be made into a movie.

This gripping events in Where the Wind Leads, by Vinh Chung with Tim Downs, are proof that God's mercy, grace, and love cannot be defeated by even the worst and most inhumane crimes committed by wicked men.

The Chung family was once a destitute group of ethnic Chinese living in Vietnam.  Through their strength of determination, they built a vast business empire from nothing. Then they lost everything again.  A hostile communist government deprived them of their wealth, property, and livelihood.  In 1979, as conflict between Vietnam and China was escalating, adversity against Chinese families like the Chungs grew exponentially.  It was at this time that the Chung family decided to leave Vietnam and what little belongings they had been able to keep.

They took to the sea, where they encountered hunger, dehydration, betrayal, and even bloodthirsty pirates.

They took to the sea, where the slightest breeze could mean the difference between rescue and ruin.

Beyond the harrowing experience adrift on open water, this book chronicles how a refugee family faced a bewildering new culture, the constant strain of poverty, and the ugly reality of racism.  There's even a charming love story as well.

I cannot give this book higher recommendation.  Its excellent writing is sure to educate, thrill, and inspire.
