As teams around the league are starting to mock up their Spring Training list of invitees, one league owner has unveiled a team name change. Formerly the Colorado Tumbleweed has announced they will now be known as the North Colorado Tumbleweed.
The team's owner claims the organizational name change is not politically motivated. However, it's hard to ignore the fact that the change comes following political unrest amongst several counties in Northern Colorado, including Weld County, where the team is located.
In November the 51st state initiative ballot measure failed in Weld County with 56% opposed and only 43% in support. The team has not yet announced if it will continue with the annual high capacity magazine giveaway night that has been so popular in years past.
