A reward from @MarcosPizzacorp...

Today we jogged seven miles as part of our training for the Team World Vision half marathon in September.

As a reward for such diligent training, I treated myself to chicken wings and cheezy bread from Marco's.

I'm not trying to brag, but I think I have this distance running thing down.

Now, if I only could stand up...

A different kind of stolen base...

Suing a mascot? Not cool.

Sure, mascots are annoying.  Especially Dinger.  But should a Major League Baseball team really go to the mats in order to get rid of an unofficial mascot--one that never blocks a fan's view of the field?

Honestly, I don't understand what

With the 2nd half of the season just getting underway, let's take a look at the PFBL league table as it stands after the first half of the year:

Expanded standings are after the jump.

Royals Baseball, they can taste it!

Or at least, they can taste something.

Please, no more Mo.

The Yankees better not make the playoffs.  If they do, I might not be able to watch.  I just don't think I can stomach any more gushing over Mariano Rivera.

Just take a look at a sample of what baseball fans had to endure last night:

There was more.  Much more.  It started early, in the All-Star pregame show, and didn't stop until my late local news took over the airwaves.

Now, I have to say that Rivera is

Starting the All-Star Game is quite an honor...

But will it make people recognize you?  Matt Harvey investigates:

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty sure that I could

Pioneer Skies 1st Half MVP

Without much further ado, my 1st half MVP is...

Didn't the All-Star game matter back in 1970 when Pete Rose ruined Ray Fosse's career?

The All-Star Game is enough of a gimmick in and of itself.  Here's hoping that when Derrick Hall becomes the next MLB Commissioner, he throws out the asinine gimmick of having the All-Star Game determine home field advantage in the World Series.

Still, I have seen worse slides into home...

Matt Carpenter: Colorado Tumbleweed 1st Half MVP

While the Colorado Tumbleweed have several all-star caliber players, the 1st half MVP of the team is Matt Carpenter. An undrafted free agent acquisition during spring training, Carpenter was originally picked up to provide depth at the second base position to Chase Utley, while being able to cover quite a bit of ground with his multiple-position eligibility. Carpenter quickly worked his way into the lineup as an everyday player, netting 284 points on the season (269 points while in the Tumbleweed lineup).

Carpenter was also named to the National League All-Star team. His point value comes from his ability to get on base, hit for extra bases, score, as well as drive in runs. He is a true all-around player, even flashing the leather on occasion. According to Baseball Reference, at the break Carpenter has posted 3.9 WAR and a 30.6 RE24.

Happy All-Star Tuesday!

Before we look ahead to this year's Midsummer Classic, don't forget to revisit The Commish's incredible All-Star experience from a year ago.  Best OSITF post ever!

This year's American League All-Star team includes one of my all time favorites:
