Three things I would change about baseball right now

1) Institute instant replay for everything except balls and strikes.

2) Make every television broadcast feature one player or umpire who is "mic'd up."

3) Baseball returns to the Olympics, including an NHL-style break in the MLB regular season.

  1. Very cool, JT. And I agree, except with #3. I certainly think baseball should be an Olympic sport, but definitely don't interrupt the MLB season. We need to just send the college kids.
Also, along with one player being mic'd up, I want a subsequent channel, or maybe an MLB.TV feed that could just Iso-Cam one player throughout the entire game. Watch the entire Cubs game with an Iso-feed on Starlin. Wouldn't that be sweet?

    1. I'm convinced that the key to baseball being a viable Olympic sport is for there to be basketball-style "dream teams" from each nation. Sure I was excited that Jayson Nix was on Team USA in Beijing, but a name like that isn't going to draw eyeballs that wouldn't otherwise watch Olympic baseball. Imagine a tournament of teams loaded with superstars: Halladay, Verlander, Pujols, Kershaw, Darvish, Canó, Kemp, Votto, Trout, Harper, etc., etc., etc. Baseball would be more than just an included sport, it would be the premier competition on the world's biggest stage!

  2. I heard an interview the Bud Selig did a couple of weeks ago on Waddle & Silvy. In the interview he said that he wasn't hearing from anyone that baseball should do more instant replay. In that same interview he said that he reads all the letters that are sent to him so I say we should all send him a letter expressing our desire to get more instant replay in the game. I'm also going to mention that I think the blackout restrictions should be lifted. If you would like to send a letter to Bud this is his address: The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball
    Allan H. (Bud) Selig, Commissioner
Address: 245 Park Avenue, 31st Floor
City: New York, State: NY Zip Code: 10167
